We are delighted to announce that one of our most recently qualified solicitors, Sylwia Zaczek, has just been selected as a member of the Employment Law Association (ELA) Junior Committee.
The Employment Lawyers Association (ELA) is an apolitical organisation representing the views and interests of just over 6,000 specialist, qualified employment lawyers in the UK.
ELA was formed in 1992 and has since become a leading voice of authority in employment law. The association’s uniqueness rests in the wealth and depth of knowledge held by its diverse membership, and its neutrality on political issues.
Its members are drawn from all branches of the legal profession and include barristers and solicitors who act for employers and employees, trade unions, the voluntary sector, industry and the judiciary.
Though ELA does not give legal advice directly, it exists to promote best practice in employment law. It also supports and represents the interests of employment solicitors throughout the UK.
The association has nine sub-committees, each with its own elected chair who all sit on the ELA Management Committee. These sub committees, along with ELA’s Regional Representatives, broadly represent the core services ELA delivers to its members. The sub-committees are all made up of volunteers from the membership and include barristers, solicitors from firms who represent both employees and employers, in-house counsel, and professional support lawyers.
The Junior Committee, of which Sylwia is now a member, exists to collate ideas and feedback from junior members across the country. It also organises events which provide junior members with an opportunity to meet each other, grow their network, and develop support through ongoing mentoring opportunities. It also makes suggestions regarding future training topics and processes, and it encourages its members to provide ideas and input on possible future initiatives and improvements to the ELA.
